Vehicle breakdowns can happen at any time, usually when you least expect them and often in inconvenient places. From flat tires to dead batteries, sometimes you just get stuck.

That's why a roadside emergency kit should always be in your car. With the right supplies, you can fix small problems yourself, hold out until help arrives, and stay safer in the process.

Here are a few things that should be part of your kit:

  • Foam tire sealant: This is a good temporary fix to help you get going again.
  • Jumper cables: Never get caught without cables that are at least ten feet long and coated in eight-gauge rubber.
  • Water and food: Keep some drinking water and nonperishable snacks.
  • Warm blanket: This will be useful especially if you have to wait awhile for help.
  • First-aid kit: Make sure it's stocked with a variety of bandages, gauze pads, antiseptic ointment, aspirin, and any other items specific to the needs of you and your family.

Be sure to schedule service at one of our Lithia Auto Stores service locations before a long trip to make sure your vehicle is fit enough for the journey!
