In today's hot new car market, it is smart to look into different ways to save a buck, and dealerships are often prone to offer incentives for you to buy a vehicle that isn't moving quickly. With that in mind, we researched cars that are slower sellers in multiple markets to find some of the best deals this year. You may just discover a great deal among this year's slow movers.
 
On average, it takes from 37 to 52 days for a new car to sell and the slowest sellers may sit around for over 100 days, telling the dealer that supply for these models are higher than demand. Keep in mind that there are no guarantees that the following vehicles are being offered at a discount, but generally, dealers are more likely to offer bargains for cars that have been sitting on their lots for a longer time.

GMC Terrain

Averaging 102 Days to Sell
With that solid GMC look and ample room inside, the Terrain is an all-purpose compact SUV that is a great family mover. But with so many excellent crossovers available today, it is easy to see why this model is languishing at dealerships. It's good, just not particularly great. The Terrain comes standard with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission offering either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. As for infotainment, it offers in-dash navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a Wi-fi hotspot as standard. Driver assist features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and lane-keep assist.

BMW X2

Averaging 105 Days to Sell
Like all BMWs, this is an excellent car. If anything, it is on the smallish side. But if you're looking for a subcompact luxury crossover, this diminutive SUV might just fit the bill. It gives you awesome styling with great fit and finish plus a silky-smooth turbo-charged 4-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic that produces 228 horsepower and can take you from zero to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. Handling is crisp and cornering is sharp. Driver positioning is excellent, and all controls are easily within reach. An 8.8-inch touchscreen displays BMW's intuitive iDrive software and the X2 comes with a seven-speaker stereo though a premium Harman/Kardon system is available. As for safety, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning are standard.

MINI Countryman

The very British Countryman is the largest MINI you get, but not necessarily the favorite, hence its many days on sale. It is also not a leader when it comes to cargo space. There are three powertrains to choose from including the entry level turbocharged three-cylinder that makes 134 horses. There is a 189-hp turbo four, but the hybrid variant will get you down the road quickest. Front-wheel drive models come with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic and all-wheel drive models get an eight-speed. The interior sports high-end materials showcasing a circular 6.5-inch infotainment screen. A larger 8.8-inch display is an option. Standard driver assist features are on the slim side.

Jaguar F-Type

With styling cues reminiscent of the world-renowned E-Type, Jaguar's F-Type is one of the most beautiful two-door sports cars in the world. Besides refined looks, it is a performance champ offering a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that churns out 444 horsepower. A high-end 575 hp version is also available in the R model. Those meaty V8s will take you from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds or 3.5 seconds respectively. Driving the F-Type is a white-knuckle thrill ride in both coupe and convertible versions. The crack and pop from the engine will put a smile on your face while the suede and leather sports seats hold you in place. Like James Bond, this roadster will leave you both shaken and stirred.

BMW X7

Though the luxurious X7 three-row SUV is BMW's top tier flagship model, it has been slow to sell this year. Yet we think it is one of the best full-size luxury SUVs on the market today. It is certainly the best handling and best performing vehicle in its class. The xDrive40i boasts a turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 375 horsepower, the M60i features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that makes 523-hp, and the lofty Alpina XB7 showcases a tuned V8 that churns out a whopping 630 horses. Even the baseline car will take you from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. Air suspension with adaptive dampers makes for a superior ride and rear-axle steering is an exciting option.

Audi A4

The beautifully designed Audi A4 is one of the finest compact premium sedans available today. Its superb fit and finish as well as sleek cabin design is hard to beat, yet the A4 often remains in dealerships for an average of 115 days. Choose between a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 201 horsepower or upgrade to the 261-horse variant that will take you from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Both are married to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Steering is precise and handling is nimble. Inside you'll find plenty of legroom and a standard sunroof. A 10.1-inch touchscreen brings you voice command and a suite of driver assist features.

Buick Encore GX

The Encore GX is another of the burgeoning compact crossover SUVs available today offering a comfortable ride and nicer than average appointments. Buick's smallest SUV gets a redesign for 2024 including sleeker looks, and an upgraded interior includes an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included. The base model comes with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that puts out 137 horses. An optional 1.3-liter motor bumps the power to 155 hp. Front-wheel drive models get a CVT transmission while all-wheel drive variants get a nine-speed. There's 24 cubic feet behind the back seats and 50 cubic feet of storage with those seats towed.

GMC Yukon

Averaging 127 Days to Sell
The mighty Yukon is a massive three-row full-size SUV ready to take your entire family on awesome adventures. Sitting on dealer lots for an average of four months, you might be able to pick one up for less than you'd think. Choose from two V8s or a turbo diesel straight six. The V8s offer a 355-hp 5.3-liter or a 420-hp 6.2 -liter and the 3.0-liter diesel makes 460 pound-feet of torque. All versions come with a 10-speed automatic in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Five trim levels include a top tier Denali Ultimate version with luxury leather upholstery, 22-inch wheels, heated seats, a suite of driver assist tech, and a power liftgate. The Yukon and longer Yukon XL comfortably seat eight passengers and include a massive 145 cubic feet of cargo room.

Jeep Cherokee

Averaging 128 Days to Sell
The design of the Cherokee has stayed pretty much the same since 2014 but a new look is coming for 2024. Still, this off-road ready crossover SUV is a bit spendy compared to the competition and that may have something to do with it loitering on car lots for 128 days on average. Its two trim levels include all-wheel drive. The Attitude Lux trim gets a 2.4-liter inline-four engine that makes 180 horsepower and the more adventurous Trailhawk offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter motor that brings 270 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque for 4,000 pounds of towing capacity. Steering is accurate and handling inspires confidence on or off road. An 8.4-inch touchscreen displays Jeep's excellent Uconnect infotainment system, and the Cherokee includes the latest safety and driver assist features.

BMW iX

Averages 131 Days to Sell
The car that hangs around dealer lots the longest is an all-electric vehicle by BMW. The iX is an expensive luxury midsize SUV that will take you an impressive 324 miles on a charge thanks to its large 105.2-kWh battery pack. Two versions are available. The xDrive 50 has two electric motors for all-wheel drive and musters 516 horsepower that can take you from zero to 60 mph in just 4 seconds. For more performance, the M60 brings 610 horses and can zap you to 60 mph in a hair-raising 3.2 seconds! This SUV includes rear-wheel steering for tight turning and lane changes as well as adjustable air suspension in the M60 trim. The iX is packed with technology, comfort, and the latest driver assist features.
