Chrysler Halcyon

Harmony in Motion
Imagine gliding soundlessly across an endless desert highway in a conveyance that is capable of Level 4 autonomous travel. It has mapped out your route for you with Smart Trip Planning and welcomes you with Biometric Recognition. You are encased in a glass canopy, enjoying the night sky and projected entertainment. The steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedals have retracted and disappeared while your AI chauffeur is in charge. As you pass over select sections of road, the electric vehicle recharges itself thanks to Dynamic Inductive Charging, and when you arrive at your weekend getaway destination, the doors and roof sections of this sleek sensational ride open and peel back automatically. Then the vehicle switches to Valet Mode to park itself and wirelessly recharge.
The preceding science fiction dream will become a reality in a few years if the creative minds at Chrysler have anything to say about it. They are dedicated to pushing vehicle innovation and creativity to the max. The company's new Halcyon concept EV is a peek into the future of the Chrysler brand. It promises to forever look forward, deliver excitement and wonder to create something truly original. The Halcyon concept promises to be breathtaking both today and tomorrow.

New Stellantis technology suites will deliver integrated systems including STLA Brain, Smart Cockpit, and STLA AutoDrive that are all extremely intuitive to the user. Over 95 percent of the vehicle's materials are sustainable to live in harmony with our planet. This starts with the exterior finish which is a highly durable film rather than paint. The interior is made from recycled composite materials such as post-consumer CDs and the headliner is made from recycled plastic water bottles. I'm not kidding.
Inside the Chrysler Concept
The futuristically sleek Halcyon concept vehicle is a sedan that reminds us of the Porsche Taycan with its low-slung body. This all-electric wonder seats four and the back "stow and go" seat cushions retract to allow easy storage of your bags or groceries. In Autodrive Mode, the front seats move back to create an interior lounge effect. The windshield, side windows, and glass roof can be used to project infotainment and an AI voice assistant handles everything from climate control to music selections and other entertainments such as watching movies or TV shows. You can have video calls with friends while the car makes sure you get where you are going safely.

The entire idea of this concept car is to imagine what might be possible in just a few years from now. While the automaker imagines a time when wireless charging technology will allow the Halcyon to recharge when passing over sections of road equipped with Dynamic Inductive Charging, this wireless charging platform may be years away from happening though sections of road are currently being tested with this technology.

As Chrysler's Brand CEO Christine Feuell proclaims in the company's Halcyon Proof of Concept video: "Using the advanced technology of the STLA Brain Smart Cockpit, Halcyon creates a personalized driving experience. Software serves as both a copilot and concierge. A stowable 15.6-inch center console screen that can be used in portrait or landscape mode. It is both a touchscreen and is voice command ready." The video goes on to explain other futuristic features that only happen when too many engineers get together. For instance, "The heads-up display can map constellations in the night sky even as you're driving, taking stargazing to a whole new level. The augmented reality heads up display can enable a tour guide feature to learn more about the area you're in."

Stunning Design
As with all concept vehicles, the real-world production version of the Halcyon is probably several years away. When it does roll into Chrysler dealerships, it will be a streamlined version that will not include every bell and whistle imagined here. While Chrysler has not revealed any range estimates for the Halcyon, we can tell you that the automaker is working on an all-new battery technology that utilizes lithium-sulfur cells and an 800-volt system for a carbon footprint that is 60 percent lower than today's EV batteries and 40 percent lighter. Chrysler says you'll be able to recharge up to 200 miles of range in just five minutes!

Many of the features previewed in the Halcyon concept car such as Smart Cockpit and the STLA Brain over the air update network will be seen in Chrysler's 2025 Airflow EV crossover SUV, in showrooms by the end of this year. If the Halcyon's range is anything like the Airflow's, we could be looking at a driving range of over 400 miles.

You can bet that the actual Halcyon that makes it to the roads of America will still feature stunning design and amazing technology, as Chrysler makes Harmony in Motion a very real catalyst to its future of all-electric travel. The company hopes for a time that will be someday remembered as idyllically happy, joyful, and peaceful… the very definition of "Halcyon."
All mileage is EPA estimated.
