2026 Polestar 6
With long ties to Volvo, Polestar is a Swedish electric automaker originally known for creating race cars for Volvo and various electrified Volvo concept vehicles. It has been a standalone brand since 2017 and introduced the Polestar 1 that year. The Polestar 2 appeared in 2019 and was refreshed in 2024. Two SUV models appeared in 2024 as well, but today we are talking about the soon to be released radical sports car that will be known as the Polestar 6.
Beating Tesla to the Sports Car Punch!
Tesla has been talking about bringing back its two-seater roadster model for a number of years, but Polestar is pulling ahead with plans to make its production model rocket ship available as a 2026-year model. The Polestar 6 is being hailed as a "halo" car for the automaker; a special vehicle that puts its manufacturer's drive to innovate on the front page.Â
There's a lot we don't yet know about the 6, but we do know it was based on the amazing 02 concept car that was a mind-blowing two-door hardtop convertible with a bonded aluminum chassis. Polestar says that the lightweight aluminum frame increases rigidity and improves body control. Ducts that exit behind the front wheels aid airflow and Polestar tells us that thin air blades at the back of the car reduce turbulence, making it easier to launch an onboard drone while driving.

Yes, the 02 concept car came with its own flying drone that could be deployed from the vehicle autonomously and follow the roadster at up to 56 miles per hour to video its roadworthy prowess. As of this writing, we'd be surprised if the drone will make it into the production 6 model.
Early images of the Polestar 6 present a sleek exterior design with extremely clean lines that would be right at home in a super spy movie. With a minimalistic interior that is both luxurious and extremely functional, utilizing eco-friendly sustainable materials and state-of-the art technology, the 6 is one of the most futuristic cars we've ever seen.Â
Easy-to-use controls will flank the steering wheel, and the digital dash will offer a head-up display. A massive 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen will showcase the latest Google-based software. Upper trim versions will no doubt be bathed in rich Nappa leather as seen in the Polestar 2. Satellite radio will be standard as is a high-end Harmon/Kardon sound system.
Expect such safety and driver assist tech as multiple air bags, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitoring to all come as standard.
The manufacturer says the Polestar 6 sports car will feature an 884-horsepower dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain that will blast you from zero to 60 miles per hour in a pulse-quickening 3.2-seconds. Based on other Polestar models, we'd guess this road warrior will have a battery pack large enough to take you 300 miles on a charge. Riding on 20-inch wheels shod in Michelin rubber, adjustable Öhlins high-performance dampers and firm suspension tuning will make this racer feel like it is positively riding on rails. *All mileage is EPA estimated.
An 800-volt battery pack electric architecture shared with the Polestar 5 four-door hatchback sedan may include a fast-charging Store-Dot battery that can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just ten minutes. While the company has not released the suggested retail price for the Polestar 6, industry insiders suggest that it will likely cost around $100,000 MSRP for the base model.
